The California Redtails were started by a few pilots who wanted to fly more and belong to a national organization.  The first meeting was at the hangar of Ron Lisberg and a telephone link setup for the members in the bay area to join in.

Temporary officers were assigned and the next meeting was put on the calendar with some action items of coming up with a name, colors, and a preamble.

The next meeting the name California Redtails was chosen from a long list of names. Our colors were chosen and officers elected.

During that second meeting a logo was designed and a jacket was designed, and uniform standards were set.
